June Mountain, Take 2

Yes, back to June Mountain again, to make use of Sophia's season pass and some free passes my dad dug up for me. Sadly, no one else wanted to come join in on the fun, even with the temptation of free lift tickets!

Dragged our butts up CA-14 after work, met up with Billy for dinner on the way for dinner at Lancaster's only Thai restaurant (advice: don't bother, unless you have to be in Lancaster...), then up through Lone Pine, Independence, Big Pine, and Bishop up to June Mountain. Amazingly we found the cabin without getting lost or wandering forever, unlike last time... Although just to prove we're dorks, we forgot how cold it was in the mountains at night and had to frantically dig for our jackets as we got out of the car!

Woke up, realized we didn't have plastic bags for our yummy corned beef sandwiches, made it out to the slopes around 9:30am. June Mountain was EMPTY compared to the last trip-- which we didn't mind at all! Grabbed rental gear with no problem, then proceeded to do 12 runs, including my first black diamonds ever (yay!): Schatzi, Deer Bowl, Sunset, and The Wall. Okay, well The Wall doesn't really count, we both slid down on our backsides the whole way after deciding that we really didn't want to kill ourselves going almost straight down!

That night was very weird-- it's always a big group going to the snow in the past, so we're used to making lots of noise, playing vicious card games, cooking a lot of food, drinking alot of alcohol... instead with just two people, we cooked dinner and rediscovered TV, specifically Hunt for Red October and Disney's Tarzan. Yes, we're that deprived-- neither of us owns a TV or cable!

Next day, back up, packed up from the cabin, dropped off our extra butter with the front clerk (hey, it was either throw it away or see if someone else wanted it!), then another 12 (?) runs at June Mountain. LOTS of fun. June Mountain was even more empty on Sunday, too! Nicely groomed powder, too. SoooooooooooooooOOOOOOoooooooooooo much fun! We even hit a few more super-tiny-little jumps, just for good measure!

Packed up around 3ish, on the road by 4, stopped in Mojave for dinner (Denny's-- ick-- but we didn't really want fast food) then back to Los Angeles. Talk about a long day.

Heck, definitely a long weekend. Lots of fun though!!!!
