Tsujita LA
The ramen craze in Los Angeles has hit absurd levels the past few years. Tsujita LA's new(ish) location on Sawtelle had crazy lines 18 months ago when they first opened. These days... it's not any better. Showed up 5 minutes before opening on a Sunday morning to utter insanity.
At least I still made the first seating, even if it was an outside table where my tsukumen broth cooled a little too fast as a result. Service has also hugely improved since their early days, which were an utter cluster-f***.
The char shu tsukumen is delicious though. Holy cow, such fatty, tasty, delicious perfection. Sooooooooooooo good. The only thing that stops me from truly waxing lyrical about it, though, unfortunately, is a big one. That fatty delicious char shu? The last two pieces I got were virtually all fat. The last one, in fact, was 98% fat. For the premium price they charge, that was a serious letdown.
Oh yes, one random picture follows from dinner that night at Souplantation. 'cause I had to have something to offset the insane heaviness of the tsukumen-- lunch was so heavy, a food coma quickly followed!
