Phorage and Volcano
Pho in west LA continues to disappoint. Phorage aims for a higher-end, cleaner-tasting pho, with more deluxe rare beef or ox tail, but sadly it just doesn't quite work, even if you ignore the premium price. The noodles were too soggy and the broth lacks the delicious character of the authentic stuff. The spring rolls are well stuffed and tasty, for some reason those being a little more organic-type goes over just fine.
Sadly, phorage remains a definite downgrade from Chego.
Volcano Tea is always solid, though. Nom nom pearl tea, smoothies, and icys... yum! They recently redid the decor a bit, they pulled down the big fancy painted mural on the wall- I wonder what's next? The monthly specials menu is a nice addition too-- taro icy time!
