Gen Korean BBQ
Claim Jumpers in Torrance closed a few years ago, apparently its new tenant is Gen Korean BBQ. The new collection of blue lights gives a bit of a club vibe, a distinct change from Claim Jumpers, but that doesn't really matter so long as the food is good!
Highlights: pork cheek (NOM NOM NOM), jap chae (simple but tasty), calamari steak (wow, YUM), and the garlic pork belly (MMMMM!). Ok, the first order of garlic pork belly was awesome, the second order wasn't quite as good. The bits of flap meat and stuff weren't too bad either, neither was the Hawaiian beef (teriyaki galbi and pineapple).
Service supposedly isn't so great when they're busy, but on a Monday night it wasn't, so service was quite good. For tiny parties, you can sit at the bar in front of a grill and watch sports!
Yami Teahouse afterwards. Pretty ordinary milk tea and slushies, but the location is huge and takes lots of people, plus the price discounts aren't bad for social media check-ins. Taro slush was completely unremarkable, but again on a relatively empty Monday night, it was a nice place to hang out and digest the ridiculous amout of food we'd just had!
