Mini-roadtrip time: New Orleans to Mississippi to Mobile, Alabama. Did most of it by the coast highway, visiting Biloxi and a few other small towns on the way. Sadly, time did not permit a stop at John C. Stennis Space Center or a leisurely crawl around for all the Asian grocery stores in the area.
Since in-depth exploration was not feasible, side-of-the-road stops limited things to beaches and lighthouses. Given I'd never been through the bayou, it was still worth the drive, just to see the Gulf Coast. Towns got larger after entering Alabama, and while Mobile distinctly had a small feel, it was definitely large enough to have sprawl.
Dinner at The Proud Bird upon returning to Los Angeles. The new look is much more modern and the variety of food is appreciated, but something about the cafeteria styling and layout feels a little lacking. Ditto for the food, which is a bit generic despite the multicultural options.
