Chef Shin Akazawa of Masakazu recomended Ramen Josui, even over Tsujita. Considering he's an expert, who am I to argue?
Ramen broth is intense mix of fish and pork, doesn't look that heavy but definitely has punch. Char shu still has some texture, which is a cut above many places that cook their char shu to death. And they do a proper soft boiled egg! Verdict: very good. Not sure it beats Tsujita, but if you like an intense broth it's a place to go back to.
Duck was superb but such a small portion, while the kara age was a miss-- been brined too long and was overly salty, plus the pieces were just a little too big. t'was perfectly breaded deep fried, at least.
A few days later, stopped by the food stand haven at National and Palms. Did not find the burger stand I was expecting, but found The Best Brazilian BBQ stand instead. They did a great job with the french fries and the picahana... umm... let's just say that for the bargain price of $6, you can't complain. But there's a reason they can charge $6 for a picahana plate lunch and not $60...
