Had to redeem the previous night's failure with lunch at Loro, one of the more popular Asian fusion places. Their won ton chips are both unique and delicious (unique for being their own menu item, not that they're unique a creation!), while both the char siu and the beef bavette were very, very good. I'm not as excited about the rest of the menu, but the decor and atmosphere both seem very appropriate.
Dinner with Annabel after dropping Emily off at the airport. For a local take on xiao long bao and beef noodle soup, they do an okay job. Although only six XLB per order seems a bit odd, and the spicy won ton skins were way too thick, almost as though they used a potsticker skin and not a won ton skin. Pork buns lacked the explosive juiciness of the good ones as wel, and the beef noodle soup, while not bad, was more towards adequate than excellent. Finally the popcorn chicken was overcooked. Still had some juiceness to its credit, but was still overcooked all the same. (also no chili powder?? whaaaa)
Drove down the road to Meet Fresh for dessert. Atmosphere and menu were all about right, but again a miss on execution. Hot dishes all came out more warm than hot, although they let us send everything back to be wamred up.
