UC Tech
UC Tech 2025 was hosted by UC Riverside this year, and they chose to have the event at the nearby Riverside Convention Center so we wouldn't have to bake (as much) in the sun. Attendance was way down due to the ongoing destruction of education by the current administration, but we made do, still had some decent sessions, and overall had a solid enough conference considering how many people couldn't make it. Under such adversity, some excellent work is still being done by the University of California on the tech side, and getting to see what our colleagues are doing in-person is always valuable.
The Riverside Convention Center Marriott is older but well-maintained and renovated not too long ago, so it's a pleasant enough stay. Downtown Riverside isn't much, but they do what they can, although I gotta say the Loose Leaf Boba Co. here was pretty awful, I really hope the Long Beach location is better?
