June 2025: Day 8: Return to Nuuk

Yay for flight delays. Not much aside from a bathroom at Sisimiut Airport.

Kangerlussuaq Airport has a large but basic restaurant.

Reindeer sausage was pretty good.

Delays all day.

Kangerlussuaq Airport is the second largest airport in Greenland, at least that I personally experienced.

Air Greenland's tiny chocolate chip cookies.

Someone's expensive superyacht.

Yes, there is traffic in Greenland-- at least in Nuuk.

Rooms at the HHE Express Hotel are tiny but functional.

Bathroom is also small.

Water pressure is good.

Integrated luggage stand.

Busy on National Day.

Just about every restaurant was booked full for National Day.

Ended up with a decent burger and massive pile of salty fries at Kylling and Co.

Took advantage of more bad weather and resulting flight delays to soak in the view from the Hotel Soma lobby-- it's perhaps the best view of the little inlet/waterway it occupies. Then I miscalculated and got to the airport a little bit too early, and ended up killing plenty of time at Sisimiut Airport's rather barren waiting area. At least it wasn't too long a wait (an extra hour?), and the next stop, Kangerlussuaq, also had delays-- but one that was long enough to hit the cafeteria for a tasty reindeer sausage.

The last Air Greenland flight of the trip (number five?) arrived to the only time I'd seen traffic in Nuuk. A massive line of cars on the one road into town from the airport as everyone wanted to come to Nuuk to celebrate National Day this weekend; nearly all the restaurants were booked! I ended up with an expensive taxi ride, a nice walk through town, and settled for a pretty decent buger with a massive pile of (unfortunately very salty) fries at Kylling and Co., as just about every other restaurant was booked solid.
