Dominican Republic
Breakfast was clearly the highlight of the meals here; one last omelet for us, then a stupidly early departure to the airport. Tropical Elite Travel, Live Aqua's ground operator, insisted we leave four hours before our flight, and only begrudingly agreed to 3.5 hours early. Needless to say, that was still way earlier than we needed to arrive at the airport, especially for experienced travelers like us. At least, despite the broken jetbridges, Punta Cana International Airport is modern, well-taken-care-of, and comfortable for a long wait.
Musicians see you off (make sure to tip!), and the first flight back to the United States was smooth, only marred by the fact that United services disgusting slop, even in first-class. Tiff said our chicken looked like deconstructed pot pie-- which was probably accurate enough, only it was minus even the pie. The layover at IAD was smooth despite everything, and the second and final flight was at least in proper lie-flat seats on a 787 instead of the 737 MAX's that were the previous three flights. Sadly the food was equally terrible, with the flight crew on this last flight clearly killing the cow at least twice over before serving it.
In the end, can't say the Dominican Republic was one of my favorite places to visit, but always a little sad to end a trip and go back to reality.
