Just like the previous LAX base inaugural, LAX-MCI, there was absolutely zero fanfare for the LAX-MSO inaugural. UA 4765, operated by Skywest's N611UX, at least had Starlink, so the internet was nice and fast in-flight. Having gotten to the LAX a bit early, was able to partake of some of the United Club's decidedly indifferent ramen. Not complaining too much given I wasn't expecting much, nor much from the very much self-stable mid-flight snack box, even in first class. Crew was great, and with a reasonably crowded flight, they did a great job keeping everyone happy.
Quick night at the Fairfield Inn next to Missoula Montana Airport; like the airport, it was modest but quite nice and new for a Fairfield Inn (and it had waterslides!). Was just far enough a walk from the airport to the hotel, combined with the lack of crosswalks, and a short enough night, that I paid extra for the hotel shuttle. The airport is very new-- last remodel/construction completed in 2025, and was a pretty pleasant place to spend time, even if the observation deck did not have much activity to watch, nor was there any reason to stick around outside in the cool (38 degrees F) morning.
Definitely some hunting themed decor scattered around, a nice little display from the local history museum, and then it was time to board. Like LAX the previous day, zero fanfare and zero recognition it was an inaugural flight. Skipped the meal provided by the very friendly crew and napped instead. Was a smooth flight, maybe half-full, so while nothing to write home about, no complaints either.
Dinner that night was at NADC Burger; the beef used is good quality, the smash burger itself is pretty average/solid. Not a fan of the fries, they are good for the first few bites when they are crispy (beef tallow) and hot, but after the first few bites, they are fried so hard it's hard on your mouth.
