UCLA South Bay
UCLA Alumni tour of UCLA South Bay, aka the former Marymount California University campus in Palos Verdes. While I understand the motivation for the purchase was due to the governor's request to help make space for 3,000 more undergraduates, in reality, the situation seems to be a waste of $80,000,000. Under the current conditions this rather dated properly is not actually being used (yet), while UCLA figures out what to actually do with it. Administering a satellite campus is no small thing, and this one seems to have some other factors against it, including needing a substantial renovation as well as its size being a bit too small. The student housing that came with the purchase is a few miles away as well, and while the housing is supposedly quite nice for student housing, we didn't see it on the tour, and it's easy to imagine that needs renovation as well.
Lunch at Koreatown Plaza's food court afterwards. Yuchun is still excellent for naengmyun and the food court is busy, but there's parking in the structure, which makes sense as for why Sue and Ophelia chose the place. Lots of other stalls as well, and Sue loaded up on fried chicken, tempura, and rice cakes as well. Nom. 3CAT is a quick two blocks away, and their seasonal peachy strawberry was delicious.
Throw in a few random bits from the afternoon as well, meeting Ophelia's new dog, then babysitting the 4M kids with the help of Star Wars: Attack of the Clones.
