Camphor
Finally made it to Camphor for their Thursday steak frites night. The salad is tasty but a bit heavy on dressing, the bread is good but not memorable, the butter-- well, how can you go wrong with french butter?
It's a large portion of truffle-salted fries that are excellent, and a cheaper cut of steak (hangar steak I think? or was it sirloin?), 8 ounces, that is tenderized properly and not bad... but honestly, not the greatest. Put in context of a Michelin 1*, $65 for the meal is a great deal. Put in context of a higher-end steakhouse, and again, a solid deal. But in context of just steak? Ehhhhhh it's harder to say.
Still, the vibe is clearly a place you go to be seen, the crowd is appropriately fashionable, and the dessert-- a chocolate mousse tart-- was a solid finish to the meal.
