Thanksgiving!
Two pictures after Depeche Mode the Monday before Thanksgiving, from BCD Tofu House in Koreatown.
Then turkey overload.
Thanksgiving dinner with a little more than half the family, sticky rice, green beans, ribs and chicken wings, homemade hawaiian bread, homemade salsa, and an 18lb turkey. Sadly, not too many pictures, we were too busy eating! Sticky rice is soooo tasty, especially with turkey and gravy... dessert was pie, cream cheese brownies, the works!!
Then in line at Fry's at 3:30am-- Jared found some friends who were there at 2:30am, so we got to skip a few (ok, a hundred?) places in line. In the cold (38F?) and rain. All that to save $120 on a $400 purchase. Still, not bad at all... and we got everything we came for!
How crazy was the line? At 2:30am it wound through the maze at the front of the building. We want to say maybe 200. 3:30am, it ran halfway down the side of the building, so another hundred. 4:00am it hit the back fence of the parking lot and was curving around. 400ish? 4:45am it stretched back to the front side of the parking lot-- 500, 600? 4:55am it was curving all the way into the center of the front parking lot and was getting longer... 700? 800? Crazy! I guess if you wanted a plasma or LCD TV the deals were pretty good this year, but everything else was pretty meh, particularly if you wanted one of the 15 laptops per store... not that many. o_O
Then, on Friday, dinner with 2nd family and a 21lb (!) turkey that was also packed with stuffing. YUM. Pumpkin pie and banana cream pie, then over to 2nd family's neighbors, for Sherry and Alana's birthdays. Fun stuff, although Erik went to bed early (booo!).
Saturday evening was at Jackson Arms in South San Francisco with Joel, Scott, and Yan. Joel and I put 200 rounds through a Sig Sauer P226 .40, which was lots of fun, while Scott and Yan had a .22 and something else. Joel's still an excellent shot, cutting a hole through the ten-ring of one of his paper targets. (I'm getting better, but I need a lot more work!) Then we wandered around North Beach in San Francisco, stopping at Calzoni's for a snack and then off to a bar in Pacific Heights.
Afterwards... home for 4 hours of sleep, then back to Los Angeles for Joycelyn's birthday.
