Fooding
With 4th of July falling on a Saturday, we got Friday off-- which meant an opportune time to join Doug and his family again for dim sum. Atlantic Seafood and Dim Sum is still running crazy good pricing, and with an extra person joining this time (hi Petula!), we decided to order three entrees as well so we could take advantage of the $9.99 Beijing duck special as well.
The dim sum is still best described as indifferent at best, but the pea sprouts were pretty solid, as was the seafood chow mein. Doug raves about the sticky buns, but with so much food, I did not have stomach space to spare (!). The calamari was super heavily breaded so not my usual style, but it's hard to argue with anything deep fried. The Beijing duck was also not the meatiest or largest, but for $10, how can you complain?
The Cheng family went for more matcha ice cream after, but I dragged Jason and Petula to HeyTea instead. Their seasonal guava green grape slush is very good, even better than the king guava jasmine milk tea that's the other seasonal. Guava taste is still subtle, but blended with the green grape actually works well.
Dinner that night was Utamaro Sushi Izakaya. Their initial hype has died down somewhat, although they are still pretty busy, and they still only take reservations over the phone. The sashimi was on-point and the braised pork belly was even better. Petula praised the deep fried oysters, and have to say the hamachi carpaccio was good too.
