Croatia
Apparently picked a good day to leave, as the last day of the trip ended up stiflingly hot. Spent a few minutes extra at breakfast to photograph the expansive spread, typical of European hotel breakfasts.
Had a few minor hiccups with United's brand-new operation at Dubrovnik Airport, but trainers on hand were able to smooth everything out except the boarding process, which was best described as a medium-hot mess. The extra security for US-bound flights was a bit silly, but at least the rooftop patio, post-security, was nearby the gates for flights heading back to the USA.
Food on the return flight was a fairly edible beef and a wtf-is-this cheeseburger that actually wasn't nearly as bad as it looked. Both were much better than the food options in the United club in Newark, which were an awful collection of packaged goodies best suited to giving you farts and indigestion.
The flight home ended up being very smooth if you ignore the summer thunderstorms that resulted in a five hour delay at EWR. At least the crew was top-notch about it, and made it as pleasant an experience as possible. After plenty of horror stories about delays and indifferent crews, it was actually a relief to have several excellent experiences on this trip.
