Australia
Finally a more detailed exploration of Australia, from Sydney and Melbourne to the Great Ocean Road, for Diana's birthday. Had a great time, about the only things we didn't see enough of were the wildlife-- saw only one kangaroo in the wild, and no koals. To be fair, we had time in the trip to actually make it out to Blue Mountains National Park or whatnot, we just didn't actually make the trip, as we were too caught up in soaking up the city vibes in Australia's two largest cities.
Days 1/2: the flight to Australia is never short, but this wasn't too bad.
Day 3: picked up Diana at Melbourne Airport, then off to the Great Ocean Road, complete with a terrific sunset over the Twelve Apostles.
Day 4: return to Melbourne via the Great Ocean Road, including London Bridge, The Grott, and Cape Otway Lightstation.
Day 5: wine tasting in Yarra Valley along with exploring Melbourne, including the famous graffiti alleys and Chinatown.
Day 6: exploring Melbourne, including State Library Victoria, South Melbourne Market, and a fancy dinner for Diana's birthday at Vue de Monde.
Day 7: Melbourne to Sydney, and hitting up the highlights in Sydney.
Day 8: the famous Bondi Beach headlines the day's explorations in Sydney.
Day 9: Australia Day festivities before heading to the new Sydney Fish Market, then Sydney Opera House.
Day 10: A.P. Bakery for their famous meat pies, Burwood Chinatown, and a second birthday dinner for Diana at 6HEAD.
Day 11: time to return home.
